The
Ring Of Honor Dojo, under head trainer DELIRIOUS, is currently
accepting new students for enrollment. Located in Bristol, PA (close to
both I-95 and the PA turnpike), only 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia,
the school has been in operation since 2004, and is a facility that
includes a full size 18 foot ring, weight lifting equipment, as well as
an extensive video library, and other numerous resources at your
disposal.
The
school is for people with all levels of experience in professional
wrestling. From those with absolutely no experience looking to break in
to those with previous wrestling experience looking to hone their
skills, the ROH Dojo will help you to learn everything you need to know
in order to start, or enhance, your wrestling career. The school is open
to wrestlers (both male and female), as well as referees, managers, and
valets of all shapes and sizes.
Please
be aware that each student is different and the length of your
individual training will likely vary. Some students may advance more
rapidly than others while some will advance more slowly; what's most
important is that you invest your time, energy, and your patience to get
the most out of the program.
Some of the things your training will cover include:
-Emphasis on the fundamentals
-Drills
-Conditioning and weight training
-Ring psychology
-Development of timing and positioning
-Continuous evaluation
-Advice on character development
-Assistance with promos
-Etiquette
-SAFETY
The cost for the ROH Dojo is as follows:
$900 down payment on the first day of class
$350 per month
*training is a 6 month program so the total cost is $3000.00
$900 will be due upon registration, and an additional $350 is due on the last day of each month of training.
For
those individuals who would like to pay for the entire class on the
first day of training, you will receive a special discounted price of
$2650.00 (essentially one month free)!!!
Also,
as part of your training, you are also highly encouraged to take the
time to travel with Ring of Honor and participate as a member of the
crew. Not only does this allow you the opportunity to really see what
goes into setting up an event but it also gives you a chance to
familiarize yourself with all the in's and out's of Ring of Honor
Wrestling in a way only first-hand experience can offer.
Once
you have graduated you are allowed and encouraged to participate in the
ongoing training sessions. While some schools train you for only a set
amount of time then send you off on your own, at the ROH Dojo, once
you've graduated, you can always come back to train, work out, and meet
wrestlers.
You must be at least 18 years of age to enroll in the ROH Dojo.
For more information e-mail rohdojo@gmail.com. For those of you interested, but who can't make the October sessions, expect a new class to start around 4 months after this.

The History of Portland Wrestling
The History of Portland
Wrestling
Portland Wrestling was originally
called Pacific Northwest Wrestling created and found by Herb Owen in 1925, it
was part of the Northwest Wrestling Territory of NWA. The area was brought to its prime by Herb’s
son Don Owen and this version of Pacific Northwest Wrestling saw many of the
top names in the business come through on regular basis such as Rowdy Roddy
Piper, Matt Borne, Chris Adams, and Buddy Rose.
Pacific Northwest Wrestling was considered one of the main pro wrestling
territories from 1960s to 1980s, but unfortunately, due to changes to a
centralized Oregon Boxing and Wrestling Commission began to affect the industry
through new rules and regulations.
Performers and promoters were being
fine, additionally the expansion of WWF and WCW into national promotions with
nationwide TV deals did not make things better.
Pacific Northwest Wrestling main television sponsor declared bankruptcy,
and eventually Pacific Northwest Wrestling was cancel from television despite
being the highest rated local TV in the Portland Area. Don Owen continued to run wrestling
throughout the Oregon and Washington State Area until Mid-1992. Don Owen sold the entire promotion to
Portland Wrestling referee Sandy Barr.
Sandy Barr rename the promotion to
Championship Wrestling USA, creating new titles and abandoning the previous
titles. Barr ran into the same problems
as Owen dealing with the new rules and regulations of the Oregon State Athletic
Commission. Barr, in 1996 hired Matt
Borne to become the head booker of CWUSA and crowds began to rise, but Barr
abruptly closed CWUSA in 1997.
In late 2000 wrestling returned to
Portland with the opening of Portland Wrestling. Sandy Barr transferred the promotion to Frank
Culbertson. This new promotion claims that its heavyweight and tag team titles
lineage were the same as the previous titles operated by Don Owen. The new Portland Wrestling was not affiliated
with NWA and was not directly linked in any to the original Portland Wrestling. Portland Wrestling continue having problems
with the Oregon Athletic Commission and the Attorney General’s Office. Frank Culbertson was forced to close down in
2007 and sold his ownership rights to former announcer Don Cross in conjunction
with WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper.
In late-2012, after a 21 year
absence KPTV and KPDX announced it will revived Portland Wrestling under the
new name Portland Wrestling Uncut.
Portland Wrestling Uncut is under the direction of WWE Hall of Famer
Rowdy Roddy Piper. Portland Wrestling
rights owner Don Cross also returned to announce the matches alongside special
guest every week. PWU is currently
promoted by Pete Schweitzer, Owner of Schweitzer Entertainment Group, LLC.
